Spin the Wheel: Let Physics Break the Tie

Type your options, hit spin, read the result. Dinner, chores, who pays - the wheel settles it.
Press spin

1. Why a wheel instead of drawing lots

8 pm, four of us standing outside the mall, arguing from Sichuan to Japanese for fifteen minutes without moving a step. I opened this wheel, typed five restaurants, spun once - argument over in three seconds. Drawing lots is a black box; the wheel is the opposite: every option stays visible and the pointer decides in plain sight.

Most tie-breaks are not about bad options; they are about every option being fine. The wheel's real job is taking the blame for the choice so you can just go with it.

Psychologists call it decision paralysis. Everyone else calls it stop overthinking and eat.

2. How to use it

Type one option per line on the left, then press Update wheel - the wheel redraws instantly. The cap is 40 options; beyond that the labels get hard to read.

Check Remove option after spin and each winner drops out of the list automatically. That fits chore rosters and turn-taking: nobody gets picked twice in a row.

The right panel keeps the last 12 results with timestamps. Hit Clear my data to wipe options and history together and start fresh.

3. Ways people use it

Dinner roulette: list every restaurant nearby, spin. Whoever suggests the problem fills the options - no veto afterwards.

Chore wheel: one spin for tasks, one for names, and the crossover is the duty roster.

Classroom picker: paste student names, enable auto-remove, and everyone gets a turn with nobody skipped.

Stream giveaways: paste viewer names and spin on screen. The audience watches the process, which beats a silent backend randomizer for trust.

FAQ

Is the result truly random?

Yes. The number of turns and the landing point come from your browser's random number generator, so the result does not depend on when you press spin. Every slice has an equal chance because the wheel is divided evenly.

Are my options uploaded or visible to others?

No. Drawing and randomizing happen entirely in your browser, and options plus history live only in this device's localStorage. No request leaves the page. Switching devices or clearing site data loses them, and incognito mode wipes them when the window closes.

How many options can I add?

Up to 40. Past 16 the labels shrink automatically, so 12 or fewer reads best. Duplicate entries are removed for you.

Can I use it for giveaways or classroom turns?

Yes. Enable Remove option after spin and a picked entry cannot come up twice, which works for lists of up to 40. For anything official, screenshot the result for the record.
