How the standards differ : the China WGOC standard (normal 18.5-23.9) is stricter than the WHO standard (normal 18.5-24.9) — a BMI of 24.5 is normal under WHO but already overweight under the China standard. Body fat distribution differs in Asian populations, so the China standard tracks actual risk more closely.
BMI doesn't distinguish muscle from fat: very muscular people may read "high" without excess fat, and adults over 65 are usually given a slightly wider range. Results are for reference only and are not medical advice.
