You can also open the lesson on the full-screen page. Here is the thinking behind it.
Most of the boredom in quiz practice comes from leaving nothing behind. A child finishes ten questions, and the table still holds the same sheet of paper: right and wrong answers mixed together, no sense of distance covered. This lesson changes the way progress is counted. It trades a score for a garden. Every correct answer sends the watering can to the next soil bed, and that plant climbs one stage. Four stages and a flower opens. Nobody has to watch a number. A child only has to look up.
The layout carries the same idea: the question sits on the right, the field on the left. The question is the task in front of you; the field is the evidence you have built. When an answer is right, the thing that moves first is a flower, not a progress bar.
The field holds twelve soil beds, one plant each. Every plant passes through five steps. The seed swells as it takes up water. Two small leaves push through the soil — that is the sprout. The stem lengthens and more leaves open into a seedling. A small bud forms at the tip. Then the petals unfold and the plant is in bloom.
One bed therefore needs four correct answers, and a full field needs forty-eight. That is enough work to fill a lesson without becoming a chore. The water is not decoration either: the stage of each bed and the day's tally are stored locally, so the plants are exactly where you left them when you return.
The bank holds 72 questions, twelve per level, running from kindergarten to Grade 5, grouped into four strands: nature (seasons, animals and plants, weather, ecology), science (the water cycle, sky and land, easy physics, the history of science), everyday know-how (the body, units of measurement, safety) and culture (festivals, stories, art and world heritage).
The level is changed in Settings in the top bar and applies from the next question, so nothing restarts. Early levels stay concrete and visible: why a banana turns yellow, why a shadow follows you. Later levels ask for a turn of reasoning — tree rings, rainbows, the phases of the moon. The same idea reappears at a different level with a different question, so a child moving up meets something familiar and still has to think it through.
A note on the English edition: the question bank has been localised for an international audience rather than translated word for word. Questions about Chinese festivals, dynasties or classical poetry have been replaced with world festivals, world fables and plays, and internationally recognised art and heritage, while the difficulty at each level stays the same.
This is the most restrained part of the design. A wrong answer never reveals the correct option. It offers one directional hint and invites another try. Only after two misses on the same question does the lesson show the answer and move on, leaving that bed unplanted this time. The reasoning is simple: once the answer appears, the thinking stops; while only a hint is on screen, the child can still finish the step alone.
For younger children, or in a classroom where nobody should get stuck, Settings offers New question after a miss. Switch it on and one wrong answer quietly moves the lesson along, with no interrogation attached. The same panel holds sound, the background tune and Clear the field, which asks once more before wiping anything.
The twelve beds, the day's score, the chosen level and those three switches all live in this browser. Close the tab for dinner and the field is unchanged when you come back. Marking and growth happen entirely on the device; no answers are uploaded. The footer has a Clear my data button whenever you want a fresh start.
How do I pick questions by level?Open Settings and choose any of the six levels, kindergarten through Grade 5. Each holds twelve questions, and the change takes effect from the next one. Early levels stay on things you can see; later ones ask for cause and effect.
What happens if my child gets one wrong? They get a hint in the right direction, not the answer, and may try again. Two misses on the same question reveal the answer and move on, and that bed stays unplanted. Turn on New question after a miss if you would rather skip the retry.
Does progress follow us to another device? No. The field lives in the browser on this device only. A new device, a different browser or cleared site data starts a new field; Clear my data in the footer resets it deliberately.
